About Halcourt
A firm built on careful listening.
Since 2009, Halcourt has provided legal counsel that centres on understanding each client's circumstances before offering any recommendation.
Back to HomeOur Story
Founded on the principle that legal advice should be clear, considerate, and personal.
Halcourt was established in Kuala Lumpur in 2009 by a small group of practitioners who felt that legal services in Malaysia could be delivered with greater patience and clarity. The firm grew steadily over the following years by attracting clients who valued candour over complexity — people and organisations looking for guidance they could genuinely act on.
Today, Halcourt operates from its office on Jalan Imbi, serving clients across three core practice areas: healthcare and pharmaceutical law, landlord and tenant matters, and technology and startup law. Each area was chosen because it involves real stakes for people — not just commercial transactions — and because our team has genuine depth of experience in each.
Our approach has remained consistent: understand the situation fully, set out the options clearly, and support the client in making their own informed decisions. We do not believe in adding complexity where it serves no purpose, and we do not push for outcomes that prioritise billing over the client's actual interests.
Our Mission
To make well-considered legal counsel accessible to individuals and organisations dealing with healthcare, property, and technology matters — without jargon, without unnecessary delay, and without losing sight of the person behind every case.
Our Values
- Clarity in communication — explaining what matters and why
- Respect for the client's autonomy and decision-making
- Thoroughness without unnecessary prolongation
- Discretion in every matter, however straightforward

Legal counsel shaped by sector knowledge and professional discipline.
Halcourt draws on over fifteen years of practice in Kuala Lumpur to support clients navigating some of the more complex areas of Malaysian law. Healthcare regulation in Malaysia involves interactions between the Ministry of Health, the Pharmaceutical Services Programme, and the various statutes governing medical practice — and practitioners advising in this space need familiarity with each layer. The same holds for tenancy law, where the National Land Code, the Specific Relief Act, and practical realities of the property market all intersect.
In technology and startup law, the pace of the sector means that legal documentation must be clear, adaptable, and drafted by practitioners who understand how early-stage companies actually operate — not just those familiar with large-company commercial precedents. Halcourt has built its practice around these realities, and continues to develop that understanding through work with clients across all three sectors.
The firm's office on Jalan Imbi is accessible from central Kuala Lumpur and close to the major commercial and government districts, making in-person meetings straightforward for most clients. Remote consultations are equally available and have become a routine part of how we work with clients across peninsular Malaysia.
